Active Senior and Outreach Program

The program provides a broad range of social, recreational and educational activities for seniors to develop an active and healthy lifestyle in order to enhance their physical, emotional and mental well-being. It is an integral part of the Yee Hong Centre’s commitment to providing a continuum of care for seniors.

Seniors aged 55 or above are welcome. The programs are also open to people under 55 at higher fees.

·Creative Art & Interest Cultivation - development of personal talents and skills for self-fulfillment

Activities:
Knitting, beading, Chinese painting, acrylic painting, erhu, guzheng, penjing, Mandarin, Chinese opera, Chinese calligraphy, singing, keyboard, Chinese knot-making, etc.

·Exercise & Fitness - engagement in regular physical activity and exercise for long-term health benefits

Activities:
Tai chi, tai chi sword, line dance, Chinese folk dance, fitness class, social dance, etc.

·Social Networking – Participation in social activities for social integration and acceptance

Activities:
Social gathering, festivities, social group, etc.

·Education & Learning – life-long learning for intellectual stimulation and functioning

Activities:
Workshops, talks, computer courses, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, etc.

Macrobian Club

The Macrobian Club is a self-programming group for seniors under the sponsorship of the Yee Hong Centre. Established in 1991, the Club organizes activities of various natures for the members and operates a Senior Drop-In Centre at the Yee Hong Centre - Scarborough McNicoll for the members to meet friends, enjoy leisure pursuits and read newspapers and periodicals. An executive committee is elected bi-annually to manage the affairs of the Club.

Eligibility

Any senior who is over the age of 55 is eligible to apply for membership.

Membership Fee

Regular Membership
$15 per annual

Permanent Membership
$150
