Leslie Woo

Leslie Woo is a respected leader with over 25 years of experience building sustainable communities and shaping urban development in Canada’s fastest-growing urban region, greater Toronto​.

Leslie is the CEO at CivicAction, a premier civic engagement organization that convenes established and rising leaders from all sectors, backgrounds and experiences, CivicAction catalyzes actions and impactful solutions to address pressing challenges in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and beyond.

Before joining CivicAction, Leslie was a key part of the executive management team at Metrolinx, the Greater Golden Horseshoe regional transit authority, as Chief Planning and Development Officer for over 12 years.  Leslie is a tri-sector athlete with experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors as well as her expertise as an urban planner, architect and community activator.  An accomplished leader, Leslie was named One of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2017 by WXN, Spacing Toronto’s Transit Changemaker in 2016 and Canada’s Women’s Infrastructure Networks 2015 Inaugural Outstanding Leader.  Founder of shebuildscities.org, Leslie uses her voice and platform to amplify and celebrate other women city builders.

She is a life-long community volunteer, serving currently on the Board of Waterfront Toronto, a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, a Board Member of the ULI Curtis Infrastructure Global Advisory Board, and Vice Chair of the Counsellors of Real Estate’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.  Leslie has held past leadership roles on the Women’s College Hospital and YMCA GTA Boards of Directors.

Leslie joined the Yee Hong Centre Board in June 2022 and sits on the Human Resources Committee and the Resources Committee.
