Reinstating Mandatory Masking on all Resident Units and Client Care Areas at Yee Hong

The health and safety of our seniors, families, and staff remain Yee Hong’s highest priority. As part of our fall preparedness plan for the upcoming respiratory and influenza season, Yee Hong will be reinstating a mandatory masking policy in all resident units and client care areas. This measure is intended to mitigate the risk of infection transmission and safeguard our seniors, staff, and families.

Starting October 1, 2026, facility-approved masks are mandatory for all individuals entering resident units and client care areas. N95 masks may be required in outbreak units per local Public Health Unit guidance.

In addition to masking, please adhere to the following infection prevention and control measures to keep everyone in the home safe by:

• Please consider re-scheduling your visit to our home and community location if you have had close contact with individuals exhibiting respiratory symptoms.
• Self-screen for any flu-like or COVID-19 signs or symptoms (such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, etc.) prior to your visit.
• Stay home if you are sick or experiencing any flu-like or COVID-19 symptoms.
• Wash your hands often and thoroughly.
• Stay up to date with your vaccinations.
• Comply with other IPAC measures as instructed by the home or staff during outbreaks.

When taking a resident out on a leave of absence:

• Do NOT bring a resident to your home if someone in the household is sick.
• Remind and assist the resident with cleaning/washing their hands.
• Keep physical distance when possible to reduce the spread of illness.
• Improve ventilation or increase fresh air flow when possible; limit time in crowded indoor spaces.
