Happy new year! I hope you celebrated the start of 2023 with your loved ones and took some time during the holiday to relax and recharge. To everyone who celebrates Lunar New Year, I wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous Year of the Rabbit. We have exciting things in store for 2023, and I look forward to another stellar year at Yee Hong with you all!
Looking back on 2022, we have much to celebrate. We navigated the pandemic extremely well, successfully managing outbreaks in our Centres and helping seniors in the community stay safe and well. We leveraged our assets to get ready to build new buildings and increase access to culturally-appropriate long-term care. With the support of our Yee Hong Family, we were accredited again with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada for our commitment to quality and excellence.
2023 marks the second year of our Strategic Plan. Our three-year plan sets out how Yee Hong will further enhance the experience of our care recipients and their loved ones, innovate our operations for efficiency and growth, and share our expertise with others to strengthen seniors’ services.
In addition to continuing to enhance our programs and services at Yee Hong, we have several new and exciting milestones that we aim to achieve this year, including:
- Capital builds – aim to start construction of our new Finch II long-term care home in Scarborough.
- Focusing on our people – enhance the employee journey and continue building a healthy workplace culture that promotes and supports equity, diversity and inclusion as well as employee health and wellbeing.
- Resident, client and family engagement – create more opportunities to engage our residents, clients and family members with our Family and Resident Councils and townhalls!
Thank you for your continued commitment and contributions to Yee Hong. I am extremely grateful for the ongoing support of you all as our staff, physicians, clients, residents, family members, volunteers, board members and community partners. I am so proud of what we accomplished together in 2022, and I am confident that in 2023, we will continue to achieve great things together!
