Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care
The Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is a non-profit organization serving seniors in the Greater Toronto Area. As the service arm of the Yee Hong community, it carries the responsibilities of planning and delivering high quality and culturally appropriate services to enable seniors to live their lives to the fullest - in the healthiest, most independent and dignified ways.
Officially opened in October 1994, the Yee Hong Centre now operates four long-term care centres in Scarborough, Markham and Mississauga. We offer a continuum of care services to Chinese seniors and long-term care services to seniors of various cultural backgrounds so they enjoy the best quality of life. These include the South Asian, Filipino and Japanese communities. Thousands of seniors benefit from our long-term care, senior housing, medical and rehabilitation services and community-based programs every day.
In December 2006, all four Yee Hong Centres were awarded full accreditation for 2006-09 by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation. This was the fourth consecutive time that Yee Hong has been accredited since 1996. The three-year accreditation recognizes Yee Hong’s outstanding quality of long-term care services. It also reaffirms Yee Hong’s commitment to, and success in, meeting the needs of the community and providing leadership in culturally appropriate care in Ontario, across Canada and around the world.
Since June 2004, Yee Hong has been operating a total of 805 long-term care beds and serving over 15,000 individuals from different ethnic communities on a daily basis in Greater Toronto and the surrounding areas.
